I have both copies and the 2nd Edition is not much more informative than the first one. The new one does have a chapter on bringing barrels back On Face. There are a few new diagrams on how to do certian procedures such as regulating and soldering. The end of the book has some new pictures of people that have built rifles using his books, along with some hunting pictures. It is a somewhat improved version but I was disappointed that he still doesn't give out some very crucial information such as how to figure out what the barrel tapers need to be, etc. The numbered pages only go up to 206. Is it worth buying? I don't know, I bought one with hopes of gaining alot of new information but I was disappointed in it. He has the same problem as many other authors, he knows his stuff but he tends to forget that those of us just beginning, need all the basic info too. He skips over a lot of the basics because they are second nature to him. I would hate to try and build a rifle with just the information in either book. As they say though, his is the only game in town. Bob H. |
