I finally got back to this project, after getting all of the "summer stuff" taken care of, like rebuilding decks, staining fences, etc etc. I finished polishing the barrels last night, all by hand with 320 grit paper. Today I degreased and rinsed and have just finished the etch coat of rust blue solution. This is a first for me. I've always used Herter's Belgian Blue before, which is an "express blue". This time I'm using Brownell's own formula rust blue solution. I'm curious to see how it comes out. I'll try to take a few pics as the job progresses, and keep you all up to speed on the job. . |
