Damasteel offers new barrel steel alloy that can be blued/br

Please scroll down the page - yes, it's not true Damascus, but it is stronger.

92x .y Low Alloy Tough Hardening Damascus Steel
Applications: Hunting firearm barrels and parts for browning or blueing. Knife blades. Axes and other edge tools. Damascus forging including forge welding.
Properties: Hardenable up to 55 HRC. Excellent toughness. Excellent forgeability and forge weldability. No corrosion resistance.

BTW Per Billgren who owns the company is not just a metalsmithing genius but also one of the nicest men I know. While some companies make barrels with his steels, I am guessing that any barrelmaker would be able to do this with the blanks from Damasteel.

And if someone does go ahead and build a double with browned / blued Damascus blanks, you must post pics here first since this is where you read about it.

Cheers and good hunting!
