Re: .303 British Double Rifle Project

Daryl,

The load is Dominion military brass from the early 1900's, WLR primer, Hornady 174 grain RN bullet, 43.1 grains of IMR 4350. The velocity is right on 2200 fps. At 2300 fps the primers had slight cratering and no deer will ever know the difference for 100 fps. When you see the groups that the two barrels shoot, it's easy to see why the 1910 Ross rifle won every long-range match going, to the point where the Americans refused to let our shooters use them any more and insisted that they use Springfields if they wanted to shoot against them in future. At the gun show in Orangeville, Ontario, a week ago yesterday, the fellow with the table behind mine had a bunch of used barrels for sale. One of them was a 1910 Ross barrel with a bore that's even finer than these two. Well, you know the rest, I bought it. I have absolutely no use for it but I figured that some day I'll run into someone who decides that he wants to build one of these beauties as well. I've got one of the two barrels that he'll need !!!
