Re: .303 British Double Rifle Project

Well, today was the day! I took her out to the home of a friend who lives in the boondocks. We put three heavy proof loads down each barrel, loads heavy enough that the primers were noticeably cratered. No problems whatsoever. Then fired about 50 of my regulation load. It's a hoot to shoot. It's a very windy and bitterly cold day here today, not conducive to accurate shootiong, but I fired 6 shots for group at 25 yards. Each barrel put 3 shots into 1", both exactly the same for elevation, but 5" apart. Tonight I'll heat the muzzles, withdraw the wedge a bit, and let the barrels converge about .025" more than they are now. I think that I'm going to try a few loads at 100 fps more than these relatively light loads. Decreasing the barrel time should help with pulling the groups together as well.
