The first double rifle that I built for myself has two rifled Hastings barrels sleeved into the monoblock which I created from the original shotgun barrel assembly. I absolutely love it and have killed about a dozen deer with it. However, there have been many occasions when hunting in thick brush when I have wished that I had built a Cape gun instead. An ounce and a half of OO buck in a smooth right barrel, and a Lightfield slug in a rifled left barrel would be the best of all possible worlds for the majority of whitetaiol hunting in my area. It would also have made several months of regulating the rifled barrels totally unnecessary! |
