I had an option to buy the 20/.577 that you are now restoring. It was in India at the time and the dealer would only sell it after he was done restocking it. He stated that he was as good as the British stockers ever were. He did do a nice job on it, but it has been restocked. I have a.577 Alexander Henry hammerless double rifle almost identical to yours that was built for the Maharaja of Kashmir.I hope that your project is very successful. I turned down the rifle that you bought for the one that I have now. I admire your desire to undertake the restoration of the 20/.577. It would be a shame if it was never restored. I too have owned many Alex Henry double rifles. The wood piecing on the pistol grip is quite common.
