Patents and where to find them

Hi all,

I'm interested in finding Henry Jones original patent, and the later derivatives that emerged after he let the original patent lapse. I presume any enhancements were also patented. Would anyone be able to point me to a database or be able to share the original drawings and plans? I tried looking on the uk patent site but their digital history only goes as far back as 1890.

Any help appreciated, and thanks!

Get the books by Crudgington & Baker "The British Shotgun", volumes 1,2,3. The Jones patents and the variations by Grant and Wilson are covered in Vol.1, the post-1870 adaptations to hammerless guns by Gibbs & Pitt, Murcott, Allport and Henry in Vol.2.

Here you go Ash: https://www.gov.uk/search-for-patent, there is another link on that page that will take you to a EU based patents database as well.

Thanks for the info kudue, I'll certainly have a look at those books!

Re: Patents and where to find them

I have all the british small arms patents
do you know the number.
They are listed chronologically by number
it is hard copy so searching by applicant is not possible.
