I'll explain why I want the Steel 1 piece mount:

I picked up a Carl Gustav M96 action worked over my a very good knife maker. He is a wonderful craftsman and his hand work is excellent, but he is not a gunsmith and didn't understand a few things when he worked on the receiver.

The rear ring was ground down a bit too much so any 2 piece mounts get a "stair step" and the top of the rear base is not even with the top of the front base.

If you have a 1 piece mount you can shim on one end and align the whole base with the bore by having the rings attached and a scope in the rings. When you get the shimming correct you measure the addition and weld up enough metal on the bottom of the base to work it back down to that dimension. When you are done you have a base that is super strong and also fits the modified action perfectly which can be both soldered and screwed down. But I need steel, not aluminum to do this.

I have done this type of "repair" about 20 times in the past on various old rifles. But now Redfield seems to have discontinued the mount for the 96 Swede.
So I am trying to find one out there somewhere.
