George Gibbs Mauser 35Whelen

George Gibbs Mauser '98 in 35 Whelen Imp. $1750
This was once a 318 W.R. but was rebored to 35 Whelen. 318 proofs remain.
Not all that crazy considering that once .330" bullets were as rare as DaVincis and if you closed your eyes (and wallet)
you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the two in field performance. The Whelen is a great cartridge in its own right and
gives the owner many more options as far as bullet selection over the 318.
Anyway, this is what I would call a "Light Rifle" as it weighs in at 7lb 2oz
Has an interesting rounded shape to the bottom metal and a contoured bolt handle which adds to its sleek character.
Has a bit of a shiny appearance which could use some toning down.
I have shot this rifle and it really doesn't beat you up too bad although it does generate some snap.
