You can use the 6.5X54 dies with a 303 British shell holder.
They are usually easier to get ahold of.
Brass can be made from 303 as well.

Re: WTB 6.5x53R Dies and Brass

Bertram makes the brass and has it in stock.
CH4D makes dies in 6.5x53R.

If you use 303 brass you have to make sure that the rearward edge of the rim has a reasonable radius on it or else the rounds will not fit or feed through the en block clips.

Many of the guys here use 6.5x54MS dies and seem to have no problems, however if you check the cartridge drawing of the two there are some minor dimensional differences mainly around the shoulder area. I use the appropriate dies for my Mannlichers and Mannlicher Schoenauers and have no problems.

Before you shoot virgin brass in your Mannlicher it is well worth checking the headspace as they are often excessive, three of mine were between 0.014" and 0.018".

What sort of Mannlicher do you have ?

Matt.

No problems. It would be great to see some photos, always interested in take-down models. If you need some more clips there is a chap in Holland who sells them on Ebay. I have bought from him and many of the clips are like new. Here is the link:

Unfortunately CH4D do not have any stock of the 6.5x53R dies, so if there is a set out there please let me know

Re: WTB 6.5x53R Dies and Brass

I have contacted the chap that I bought the CH4D dies from as he had several sets of 6.5x53R dies for sale. I should hear something back in the next couple of days or so.

Matt.

Re: WTB 6.5x53R Dies and Brass

The chap rang me back today and unfortunately they have all been sold.
When you say that CH4D have no stock did that also mean that they had no intentions of making any new stock at all or at least not for some time. Or are they intending to make some more in the near future.

Matt.

Re: WTB 6.5x53R Dies and Brass

I have used 6.5x54 dies for many years with no problem. Also used 303 British brass. Turned the rims down a few thousands to better fit the clips.
