For sale, is my Kodiak in .450 #2 Nitro It has always been 'by good grace' regulated better than any other high-end double I have ever used, and I've always preferred it over the others. The finish has been customized and it is without doubt the finest Kodiak in the world, and I say this without boasting. The gunsmith that customized it did far better work than what I have seen on many $20,000 rifles, from the finish to the custom chambering. I have always preferred hammer-guns, so, this was my baby. But, I am willing to sell it to the highest offer within one to two weeks time, due to an unexpected trip I will be taking out of country to be with someone in more need than I am. Highest offer gets it. ...you may email for pics and questions...offer...etc. to: pondoro7@gmail.com Will ship from my dealer to yours. Thanks... |

Please note The Rules you should state a price. It may be negotiable - but you should state a price. Nice looking Kodiak. How does it print, and with what load? There isn't much factory 450NE no2 ammunition out there, I'm interested to hear what the regulation load is. Do you use filler? What bullet and velocity? Do you have a target to post? Cheers Tinker |

Thanks. She prints quite well. I can provide a target if needed, as soon as I can get out with her. I do know that she can take a running buck through the heart at 100 yards, and group inside the bottom of a coke can at 50 offhand. And yes, fortunately, this is using original factory load equivalent. Cordite equivalent of RL-15 with dacron filler and 480's. Either Woodleigh or Hornady. I have used 500 Hornadys through her, and they printed the same, but I always liked to keep the original load. Possibly the only thing of note, is that I have found it best to use Fed-215 primers. My personal estimate is $5000 When I bought it new, it was a little lower, but then I had the work done on it, and since then, I noticed that new ones were going around $6000 I think, and I tried to look again for new ones online in order to get an estimate and could not find any now. I'm not sure if they have been discontinued or not. However, I am willing to negotiate if I have to. I'm simply trying to acquire funds for this trip, and I even hate to let go of it, and said I never would, lol, but, there are more important things in life sometimes, and I'm sure that whoever gets it will make 'Matilda' feel at home, lol... Thanks to all, and many thanks to Bonanza for posting the pic. I have more that I can send via email: pondoro7@gmail.com I had a message on here from an interested person, and am not sure my reply went through, so, just in case, and for more pics, I can be reached at that email. Again, thanks to all. David |

Quote: I think some targets showing how it shoots would be a good idea. |

The sun finally came out, so it seems like a good time to do it, today or tomorrow. I'll post a target within that time. |
Here is the target. I only fired twice, because, I wanted to make sure everyone knows where the left barrel and right barrel is. 1 and 1/4 inch circle......at 50 yards... The right barrel, was as expected, but the left one a little low, because I have not fired in quiet some time, and was distracted a bit by first shot. |

Actually, when I say a 'bit', I mean my thumb got my lip, ahah. But, again, I've not fired in quite some time, so was to be expected from a kneeling position. I wanted to add, that this is the 95.2 grains of RL-15 = 80 grains cordite, Dacron filler, and Fed 215 primer Thanks. |

$2500 and that's my best offer. |

Quote: Don't want to disturb your deal or not. But when you have time can you tell me what the velocity of that load is. I might try something similar in my own .450 No. 2. I have never fine tuned its loads, just got to hunting accuracy for elephant and buffalo and then loaded up a hundred, well more than one lot of a hundred over time. |

Interesting looking chambers! |
Indeed. Notice the new shoulder angle. |
Am I correct it seeing a major change in shoulder angle in the fired brass? |
Bonanza: I'll send email NitroX: I've never owned a chronograph in my life, but, reading through the books, and using that cordite-conversion load, I always felt that it was very close to the original velocity. Or, at least, close enough for my tastes. And yes, the shoulder angle confused me a bit when I first fired it, and I assumed that all .450 #2's were the same in this respect, although I have never fired any others. |
Standing one case beside the other does the shoulder angle give the fired case more capacity? Like sort of a different take on an "improved" |
Not really. It seems to be just that little curve. Of note: I'm looking in 'African Rifles and Cartridges' by Pondoro right now...and on page 274 is a drawing of a fired .450 no2 case....and the shoulder is blown out straight too... |
