Cool! My bro's M74 Sharps .50 Alaskan with 28" tapered round McGowen barrel with 24" twist, weighs exactly 11-1/2 pounds. This is his ctg. gun for hunting, with a 520gr. FN. He rarely packs it now, as his main hunting rifle is a .60 Cal Jaeger flintlock. : His .50 Sharps shot into 10", elbow rest off the truck hood at 450 yards, open sights - black powder loads with 86gr. 2F GOEX. It started off as a .45 3-1/4" with a badly rifled barrel only .0015 deep. Rebarreled with a proper twist McGowen blank, it turned into a 1-1/2" MOA rifle to 300yards. The Shilos will shoot and quality control is better now than 25 years ago. |
