This is a Triplelock Target in 44 Special. It still has its original grips; the serial number is penciled onto the back of the grip.. The Triplelock was the beginning of the wonderful N-frame family that eventually was to include the Registered Magnum and the Model 29. This example was shipped from S&W on January 1, 1918; it was shipped to Shapleigh Hardware in St. Louis, Missouri. It has not been particularly abused in its life, but it has been neglected. The bore is shiney with the exception of some pits. It is a good shooter with proper lead bullets. The fit and finish of these early revolvers was first rate. Also pictured are two other classics: a Filson Cruiser and a Lawrence rig. |
