Not impressed with a .308 dia. bullet travelling 1,900fps. However, with a bigger scope, longer, heavier barrel chambered for .22 or .17 PEE WEE, yes, by all meanes. Without the gas tube, it becomes an auto eject, straight pull bolt gun. A solid butt extender would have been fine.
