yes, thats also how I understand it this second thread was probably to use this barrel in a remington rolling block rifle there was never a gun chambered for the 11,6x40R greenland cartridge but it was only a budget solution to make ammo for the old remington rolling blocks using 8x58RD brass. after ww2 the rolling block was not seen as an interesting antique but as cheap iron and the typical native hunter in greenland was not swimming in money but working under extrem conditions to make a living. he was needing a rugged hunting tool with inexpensive ammo.the little shotgun cartridge was probably used to shoot snow hare and fox on short range with little as possible holes in the pelt. |
