Daryl yes it's a recoil mount.

The Malcolm folks have a few different mount options and features. They offer a spring kit for return to battery, as well as stop rings to keep the scope from moving.

I might end up with a spring assembly.

And yes I agree, this is one nice looking rig, although I must admit, that white line spacer sours my gut. I will likely replace it in the very near future with something more fitting of the classy looks of the rest of the rifle.
