Sun had already gone down by the time I got home, but there was still enough light in the sky to establish a zero for this new setup. The existing dovetail block mounting holes were 7.200" CtC, so I rummaged through the pile of dusty old blocks at the shop and selected a pair that were close for a level installation. I machined the front block to maximize the range of vertical adjustment in the mounts that came with this Malcolm scope. Collumnated it at the shop. I got the zero that I wanted in two shots at 100 yards. Last weekend I'd generated a dope chart on the JBM Ballistics web based utility for running the Lyman-48 receiver sight. Tonight's atmosphere was close enough to the data in the chart, so I just dialed in the elevation dope and fired at the 9x15 steel downrange at 400 yards. "...Ping!.." Subsequent shots connected with steel. Il be back at it this weekend. Not so bad. |
