very interesting pic, what mister Maxwell is loading here is a vintage 1,5" Greener whaling gun http://www.antiquesofthesea.com/8373_Greener_Harpoon.html, probably cheap in scotland in 1946 because out of service for 60 years or more. imho,the only existing pic showing the old Greener harpoon gun in action. mister Maxwell was surely very eccentric because setting up a shark fishery was next to starting a sail ship pirate business.Soay is famous for being the home of the soay sheep living there for maybe thousend years now since this primitive race was abadon by wikings.
