Believe it or not, John, I'd like to have one of those rifles. It would be extra good for pigs and maybe enough for sambar. I was asked to evaluate a book by an old hound hunter once. He said the .44/40 had been good on sambar out to 70 yards, so the .401 should be at least that good. Unless an angle shot needed more penetration, the increased frontal area might make it better than the 375 Win, too.
