Nice rifle & gift from Grandpa, I see your not asking for opinions but here is mine anyway. However do as you wish - it is "your" rifle. Personally because of the family connection I would leave it alone except for maybe a good thorough cleaning. Redoing it may & probably will take away some of the grandpa's gun "heirloom" family appeal. I know because I've been there & done that to my chagrin. You have an Action only, again from grandpa, to do with as you wish - rebuild / custom etc. JMHO - FWIW --- John303.
