There was a local outfit that used to build Garand's in bigger bore calibers like .338 and .458 Win. I don't think they are doing them anymore but you can still find some info floating around out there about them, the company website is here (they have some info under the history page):

The Mini-G is another interesting one that is currently being built. It's a Garand's cut down to a 16" barrel, you can get them in 30-06, 308 and 35 Whelen:
