Sahib, don't know if you were requesting pics from me or Mike. I don't have access to my rifles now, but you can clearly see in Mike's pics above how the bottom of the Lyman 48 slide and base are contoured in a smooth, tasteful manner. Details like this are what makes these rifles so fascinating to me. Its not that a workman today couldn't do the same detail finish but back then they did it as part of the job. G&H, Hoffman, and Owens seem to typify what we think of as an American custom rifle these days but there is so much lost in the details of the modern copies. |
