Re: 1936 G&H 03 '06

Nice, early G&H! Quite unusual bottom metal. It leapt out by not having the G&H signature 'thumb print' checkering. Strange that the front ring isn't stippled, either. I was admiring how nicely the bottom of the Lyman 48 was rounded along with the stock's feed port when I went back to the close up of the trigger guard. It appears to have little work to knock off any of the sharp edges which is strange compared to the rest of the rifle. I wonder if the bottom metal was replaced somewhere down the line? From the pictures, it appears to be well fit. Have you had a chance to open it up and check for any wood fit marks in the stock? Please don't take this as throwing stones at a great rifle. That's what makes the G&H rifles so interesting, they all have differences. Thanks for pics of a neat rifle! Good hunting with it, also!
