4th one. This mould's bullet would actually work very well in up to 100" of rifling twist, but also could work in more modern 34" to 36" rates of twist at 1,200fps to about 1,500fps.(just a guess) It would likely tumble badly in a smoothbore, even though the base is hollow. If it was my mould and I wanted to shoot it in my 12 bore rifled bl. I would pull the handle off the hollow-base plunger and turn it slightly for a thicker base. That would increase the hoop stress level for the base and make it slightly heavier, up to 600gr. By thicker base, I am referring to the 6th bullet in the lineup, below. If the diameter of the tube was .730" and the bullet cast 730", then the base could be solid, likely weighing closer to 700gr. of more. PERFECT! |
