This past September I used cast bullets in my Sauer 11mm Mauser double rifle for a bear hunt in northern Ontario. It was the first time I have ever used cast for big game.
The bear didn't drop in his tracks...he ran about 35 yards! Both lungs and the top of his heart were hit. I'll use cast again next year.
