Re: 500gr cast in 458WM?

A mould that proved very accurate for me, was the 500gr. Lee with gas check. It has a long bore riding nose and shorter base section, which doesn't take up much case volume.
With H4895, you can start with 1/2 of a full load and go up from there.

In my own .458 Alaskan, with 97gr. capacity, just a bit more than the Win. Mag., the Lee bullet shot into an inch, right up to 2,200fps - although that's to much recoil for me any more - I sold the rifle.

The RCBS 500gr. bullet, a CG design with it's short flat nose and 5 grooves over a long groove diameter body, puts most of it's considerable length inside the case. This case capacity hogging design negates the necessity of using fillers with most powders that run reduced volume loads.

It too is an accurate bullet - and when driven at 1,800fps, will exit a wolf! Mine cast at 525gr. in CDN WW alloy.
