Re: Moly Coated cast bullets?

Quote:

G'Day Fella's,

I was busy in the Funshop yesterday, applying Cerakote to a couple of synthetic rifle stocks, when I had a thought!

I had recently read on this forum, how individuals were wrapping cast bullets with Teflon tape, as a lubricant.
Well, I was wondering if and has any body applied either pressure pack spay-on Molybdenum, like "Ms-Moly" or the Cerakote made dry lubricant Micro Slick, to cast bullets???

Looking forward to your reply's and ideas

Doh!

Homer - I moly coated some 450gr. bullets for my .50/70 Sharps some years ago. With MsMoly, they shot the same as the lubed bullets, no better, certainly no worse. Average groups at 100 meters were 3"- no matter what lube was used - smokeless as well as black powder loads. The BP loads ALL had BP lube to soften the fouling. I would not expect the moly to work with BPowder loads any more than an alox lubed bullet do (my tests with alox and BP have been dismal).

Luybing by spraying, was incredibly easy and fast.
