I've used a thinner lube made from good, first run filtred Beeswax & Vaseline about 55% Vaseline, 45% Beeswax (the mix isn't critical). I rub it onto the patched bullet, then seat the bullet in the case. The same materials, mixed 60% BW/40%Vas. works just fine as an all purpose bullet lube, for black powder or smokeless loads for decent sized bullets. I've driven .45 cal. WW alloyed bullets to well over 2,000fps without leading and sub MOA accuracy using the slower rifle powders.
I've not found Olive Oil to work well, due to lack of desired accuracy when mixed with BW.
