Fellas, Just came out of the reloading room where I shot a couple of pic's of the cartridge compared along side of another 8x56 & an 8x57JRS (didn't notice the R until afterwards)along with pic's of the box & its labels. Now the problem, I haven't been able to post pic's here but I could email them to someone if they wanted to add them to this post. Just PM an email address and I will forward a couple of pictures. Another interesting note: I just decided to measure the bullet dia. in the 1914 Winchester, .317 & the vintage DWM 8mm mannlicher measured .323. Also checked against Donnelly's cartridge conversion and the Mannlicher is a couple thousands smaller almost every where & looks like it would chamber fine except for shorter, sharper shoulder. In 1914 most of the Mausers would have had the "I" .318 bore at that time as well! M4220 |
