Re: Puma boar spear

I once bought a "Saufeder" for use on wild boars and was thinking of the Puma Saufeder first. But then I read an article on the theme in a German hunting magazine. I learned that there are two kinds of tools. One is for decoration and the other for the real stuff, hunting wild boars with dogs. I really don`t know about the quality of the Puma Saufeder, but I strongly recommend the heavy duty Saufeder of Anton Netzer. He is a old-fashioned smith working in an incredibly old smithy. You can have a look at his smithy when You google "Hammerschmiede Anton Netzer". His Saufeder is a special design. The blade is broader and thicker than usual with heavy reinforcing to the extra heavy ash tree shaft. Ash seems to be the wood of choice, it is flexible and durable but this is not enough for Mr. Netzer. He selects the trees and prefers those that were growing on mountains, saying that they are far better than those growing near a brook.
Another aspect is that his Saufeder is considerably cheaper than the high priced Puma. I don`t know the actual price but I could call the guy and ask if there is any interest.
