Well, he's already pretty big and more than likely he is not done growing yet. Most importantly he needs to make sure the bow fits him. One size does not fit all when dealing with compound bows. He will need to try several different makes of bows as well to see which one feels "right" for him. The best thing to do is go to an experienced bow shop and they will measure his draw length to start. Once they have that number they can start showing him bows. That is the first step, proper fit. Then he tries shooting several to see which one he likes best. I have always said buying a bow is like buying a puppy. One just picks you out! Once he picks a bow out there are innumerable gadjets out there to put on the bow to shoot quietly and efficiently. He will need a sight, an arrow rest, a wrist strap, sound dampeners, a quiver, arrows, field points, broad heads, targets to practice on. Let me know how it goes. |
