It was a big beautiful bear and only 60 yards away. Fortunately, I was able to back out without incident. I decided it was time to abandon the trail and hunt in the opposite direction.
It is the most prudent option, but I believe it always backed by a great cartridge in case the predator notices our presence and considers it a threat and attacks.
