Re: Knife Sharpening Techniques

I have a number of different stones. Some work far better than others, a small travelling one works really well but is generally too small for use at home.

Have to see if I have the names or types of them still, on the box or the stone.

One method that does not work. Go for a hunting trip with a friend who has extra keen knives, offer to do some reloading for him, spend two hours reloading, in return for him sharpening a couple of blunt knives. Give him the knives, and him spend twenty seconds, on a stone and then hand you back blunt knives. Note at the time, never reload for the prick ever again ...

I also have the Loray/Lansky sharpening system, and it sort of works at times. Depends on the knife. A bigger stone is better.
