Noways is very normal that factory-made skandinavian puukkos have quite soft blade. I think the reason is that such a blade is easier to sharpen. Skinning knives are then different "animals", they always have harder plates.


I also have a 7" general purpose Finnish Puukko made by a fellow named Antti Makinen that I traded a Norwegian ski trooper for while I was Skiing in the US Marines in Norway . While too large for skinning it is a superb all purpose military knife with a beautiful dark Birch handle and is very sharp.
