Rusa can be found in several places in Aust. The main herd is South West of Sydney near or in the Royal National Park. They suffered (reportedly) heavily in a recent bushfire and periodically the NSW gov't thinks about shooting them out. These are Javan Rusa. Mollucan rusa can be found on Groote Eylandt in the NT but I am not sure if they are huntable. Probably various other locations. The place I am going is a very large fenced property in South Australia which has several species of deer. The hunter I am taking there just wants to do a hunt while here and why not? The BEST place for large exceptional trophy Rusa deer is New Calendonia. A great place for a great Rusa hunt. Plus a tropical paradise and a fantastic location to take the wife or girlfriend too. This is a place I WILL hunt before long. I can recommend a very good outfitter to you if you are interested. Send me a PM or email if you are interested. The prices for a Rusa hunt are very reasonable. |
