ok, my dad and I spent saturday AM at the club and he, having not shot from 16-yds in 19-20 years, and me having NEVER shot from anything more than about 5-yards off, well, we came to the immediate conlusion that: a) my 20ga Ithica o/u choked IC/M was brutally inadequate b) his 20 Benelli choked Full was also brutally inadequate so, we need a new trap gun... pronto... while we have 3 twelve gauge guns already, none of them is suited for heavy use or, for that matter, ANY use... (one non-functional, one semi-functional, one too rare). that leaves us with the dillemma of which route to go... he would like another benelli montefeltro (would obviously have a pair of barrels, a 26 for the field and a 30 or 32" trap barrel). I can't hit anything with them though... nada, zip, zilch, bupkus. as such, I'm pushing the idea of an SKB 585 or 785 trap or skeet grade... they feel a lot better for me and are similar to the old remington 3200 he used to shoot consistent 95s with. the price difference is a non-issue, well, OK, its an issue, but not enough that a concise leaning will be negated on that basis. my other point for the SKB is that it can be taken to countries with semi-auto-unfriendly laws... whereas the doubles are a no-problems proposition. if you guys were in this situation... what would you do??? and I will send my dad the link to this thread... so be nice!!! |
