Great story Foxfire! Two years ago I started teaching my girlfried to shoot skeet and sporting clays. She's taken to it quite nicely. On her first hunting trip we were up jump shooting ducks and geese in Southeast Alaska. As we were walking out in the saw grass flats she tells me, "Hey what are those? Are those ducks flying in?" Being a dolt I didn't even see them. I tell her to duck down and wait for them to pass over. We do it. As the get within range I tell her to rise up and take our shots. She fires twice, I blaze away with both barrels, nothing falls... I do my quick reload with my ejector gun and pull off two more shots. Nothing falls. I stand there for a second and wonder to myself, then she says, "Hey look I got one!! I got one!!!" She got a nice mallard, first time hunting, while me her "shooting and hunting instructor" got absolutely nothing with four shots I felt so proud of her. But not nearly as proud as she was. The picture of her with her duck, her Beretta O/U, and in her camo is on the wall in her law office! She's great! |
