I've been promising this article for a while now, finally prompted to upload it by recent discussions on non-toxic shot for Australian waterfowl hunting in these forums. Initially published in Guns & Game Magazine, now long gone so I assume Briel Jackson would have no objection to its reappearance here! ![]() One major change since publishing: while the layer of diesel floating on the cooling water certainly works, it is difficult to manage and a bit messy in cleanup. Dave Lindner has discovered that a 25% solution of ethylene glycol works just as well, can be reused indefinitely, and is far easier to clean up! There's an interesting back-story concerning bismuth patents and the Petersen Publishing Company, but that's all water under the bridge... Another day, perhaps.
