Well, the best laid plans... Didn't get to the pattern plate with the Jeffery BLE after all. Chose baptism of fire instead! We shoot an occasional Vintagers-style round of clays as part of our local Big Game Rifle Club monthly shoot. Yesterday started with ten birds down the line from the middle shooting stations. At our layout that's perhaps 5m behind the trap-house. I managed 9 of 10 as my first shots from that marvelous little double! The five pairs that followed was not as successful (!) with a few escaping the pattern altogether! I loaned the Jeffery to my mate Ian who totally upstaged me in the pairs, nailing 3 right'n'lefts from his 5 pairs. Pretty to watch! I am going to be very happy with this vintage game-gun! ![]() As an aside, a cased 16-bore SxS retailed by Army & Navy Co-op Society was on the line yesterday, a virtual clone of this Jeffery. Webley-built, ejector, same screw-grip without doll's head, straight-hand stocked, and fully engraved. Twins! Great to see them both busting clays together more than a hundred years after their initial debut! ![]() ![]() |
