Quote: Congratulations on your new Jeffery acquisition. The first shotgun I shot pheasants with was in Cornwall in the UK, driven pheasants was with a shotgun borrowed off the farmer, was a 12-bore Jeffery. 1989. I hadn't heard of many Jeffery shotguns at that point, only rifles, so thought it was quite unusual. Now I think I've mentioned it already, but I acquired last year a 16-bore W.J. Jeffery boxlock shotgun. I shot it an informal clay target shoot, but at the end, shooting upmextra leftover clays, As often happens my physical spinal neck issues had set in. The first round hardly missed a clay, maybe one. The second round, missed a lot. The third round with the 16-bore missed the lot. A seized up neck and bad headache doesn't help. That test of that 16-bore Jeffery was unsuccessful did to my limitations not the gun, Hopefully it will shoot much better when I do my part. The factory shells unused had a very acrid powder odour when opening the breech after firing Getting 16-bore ammunition is a severe limitation. I acquired a 250 cartridge box of 4 shot and 6 shot. Not successful yet with obtaining 7 1/2 to 9 shot size. My gun is probably not to your guns standard, I'll pull it out when home. It is light and handy, Best of all is one choke measures at cylinder. The left barrel measures at a strange three-quarters? I would have hoped one-quarter choke. I will pattern it one day. I would like to use it on quail, smong other game birds. As a 16-bore, undesirable these days it seems, the price was in the lower expected range. I too couldn't pass it up Maybev$800 plus or minus from memory. I'd love to show my Jeffery along with yours. Alas they might need to meet up only one-day in the bush again. I hope your very much enjoy your new 115 +- year old Jeffery.i wonder where it has been carried, by whom, and for what? *** No images of William Jackman Jeffery exist? We must restart a search. BTW you need a Jeffery case label for your new vintage Jeffery. When you've done all the work, send me a quality graphic file, or even a couple of suitable printed ones, and extra or two, one for my .450 NE, when youndomyoyrs. I'll swap you some nice bottles of red wine., if you like. |
