Sabel Shotguns were very popular in the UK in the 80's as good value reasonably made and reliable guns. I owned one for around 10 years and was very happy with it, only parting with it when a George Gibbs came along at an unmissable price. A mate of mine currently owns a Silver sabel. They are indeed spanish but I cannot say who the maker is. They were imported and marketed in the UK by Gunmark I beleive. They are well made and reliable guns though in my opinion a little heavy and chunky but of course that is personal preference. At the time they were in vogue they were competing successfully with the likes of the AYA "Yeoman" range of guns. The AYAs have since gone on to be a quality and consequently more expensive product. I am sure there are thousands of sabels around in the UK but they are rarely seen for sale which for me reflects the fact that owners are reluctant to part with an honest mid range working gun. |
