Of course the 12 gauge has always been American as well.
I don't think the 16-bore has been that popular here in Australia, but occasionally one does come across one, maybe one in two hundred or even less.
I really like the 16 gauge.. have several in 12 and 20.in fact have a really nice Merkel in SXS 20 gauge..but my favorite for pheasant especially is my 16 Gauge Fox..
