Forgive my ramblings please. 35 years ago I loved highly engraved metal & beautify figuered wood. I bought new English guns back then based on this love. I have a 577 nitroH&H engraved with Ahmed the famous elephant. David Winks of H&H organised this with Phyl Coggan. Westley Richards via JohnSaunders London Guns built me a 250 - 3000 kurz takedown rifle & a 410 drop lock shotgun (with spare set of locks) heavily engraved with wallaby( 250) & flock , comman , & brush bronze wing ( 410). I cried the day I sat with the 410 250 kilometres east of halls creek & saw my first flock of " flock bro zings" with my beautiful 410 in hand. What stopped me from this passion was my friends in general looking at the guns and talking only about the wood&engraving. If my madness continues I will have the only tyre lever engraved by a famous gun engraver & several blocks of polished wood (strength) won't matter for for those friends & real guns for my other friends. To that end I have a battery of purdeys nearing completion ( 9 ) all traditional purdey.
