Kick Eez pads have the sticky built in. I have two (on rifles) and they work great. I shoot clays and trap with several men who have KE pads on their shotguns. In both sports most folks "pre-mount" the guns before calling for the bird.
I would suggest putting a leather face on yours. Next time might I suggest you put a spacer behind a Pachmyer shotgun pad (the one with the beveled top). They mount from a low ready or afield very well.
