Alan, here is one perspective you may want to consider. Pre war 28 gauge guns, especially those made by top London makers are rare, very rare. They are rare for the simple reason that not very many were made. Not many were made because they were obviously not very popular back then. This does not mean they are not popular today, and there is a somewhat of a current 28 gauge trend. I personally like the caliber a lot, especially on partridge, but I do also tend to prefer the 20 gauge especially when rough shooting because I find that the 20 bore is more effective on a larger range of birds, including ducks and pheasants. Every shotgun collection should include at least one 28 gauge and also for that matter a .410 and an 8 bore! Best James. |
