Interesting, the safety on my Mossberg 835 works just fine - locks the trigger when engaged and when pushed forwards, allows the gun to fire. I haven't tried dropping the gun on it's guard or safety and probably won't. For a gun that will probably never have to be used except for practicing, I think they will do just fine. The M870 will always be a favourite scatter gun though - they are tough guns & fast action - 6 silhouettes in 2 to 2 1/2 seconds. They will allow 3 empties in the air at a time when worked properly when using the 7 round tube extension. The extra weight helps keep the muzzle down. One MUST practice to get the timing down, then it becomes second nature. I do like the rifled tube on my Mossy for my own use (camp gun). As well, the heavier barrel allows Ed Huble's high velocity slug loads. Just picked up a pound of 'STEEL' for that testing. |
