After marking the gun at the dealership for 2 month's with drool and fingerprint marks, I broke down and actually bought the thing. It is a "Magnus Grouse"model in 28 gauge with unfortunately 26 inch barrels. ( I would have preferred 28 or better 30 inch tubes in this subgauge). I have shot sporting clays and planted chuckars with it. Used 7.5 shot on the chuckars with cyl and imprived cyl tubes. I do OK out to 30 yard on targets with this choke combo. This September I will try it out with #6 shot on planted pheasants, probably using cyl/ mod. With the 26 inch tubes and 5 lb 9 oz weight it takes a perfect gunmount and swing through with a tight lock-up to be consistent at breaking targets, specially after shooting fairly weighty 12 gauge field guns. ( Sarasquetta and Sauer SxS). In other words, shooting the lightweight sub-gauge calls for fine tuned shotgunning technique, great for practice. Has anyone else used a Caesar Guerini o/u Magnus Grouse or similar mode? |
