W.W. Greener - Is this a Facile Princeps Action(Pic's)

Looking for some info on my old Greener shotgun. Is it a Facile Princeps action? Any idea of value?

The serial on the trigger guard is 41584, It also says List No. 56.

Thanks!

That is a Facile Princeps.

Looks like an FH 50 grade gun.

A good degree of refinishing.

My estimate of UK value £800 at auction, £1,200 retail.

I have a 16 bore F25 that has very very very similar engraving, unfortunately mine lacks it's original wood.

I'm guessing it's an F25 too, but the wood looks very good and the checkering is more elaborate than my E20 for example, so maybe a little higher.

Values seem very dependent on location, in Australia I would say it's worth significantly less than the UK value above.

Is it cased?

Thanks everyone for the information.

9dot3x74R - No its not cased. Can you post some pictures of your F25?

16 bore F25.....

Hmmm, having now photographed it, I think yours is better quality, although the poor condition of mine makes it hard to judge.

Thanks 9dot3x74R. Nice gun & thanks for the pic's. Mine was made in 1893 and looks like its older than yours as the barrels on my gun are Damascus.

Re: W.W. Greener - Is this a Facile Princeps Action(Pic's)

I think mine is from the 1920's.

This one locks up like a safe. I also have an E20, made in 1928, which looks prettier, but is a little off face. At least it has it's original wood.

I'm considering making the 16 bore into a ball gun, with sights and shortened barrels removing the choke. Normally I would consider this to be butchering a fine old gun, but I think it's condition, and lack of original wood, makes it a reasonable project.
