I agree with 458 Win. Actually, I believe that the modern .458 Win Mag is a very good cartridge and certainly all I'll ever need for heavy game. A wide variety of loads can be designed to make a good .458 anything from a fairly modest recoil deer/feral hog rifle up to a quite credible cape buffalo and heavy bear rifle. That is all I'll ever need. Even at 1950 fps a 500 grain Interbond soft point is a heck of round. There is only about 50 fps difference between a Hornady Light Magnum load and the .458 Lott. I have an old, heavily customized Ruger 77 in .458 Win Mag and recently shot some .375 Ruger rounds through an African... Crap! I'll take the .458 any day over such a hard recoiling job as the .375 Ruger in such a light rifle.
